Garrett sat cross-legged on a large, cloth-covered cage, staring across the grounds to the castle. Ocassionally the cage would start to shake and the creature inside it would start to growl, but a swift slap to the side of the coop and a hiss to be quiet shut the animal right up. Once he threw in a dead rat (plucked from one of the many buckets that surrounded the cage), causing the thing inside to emit the sounds of bones being merrily crunched on. Garrett beamed with pride at the sound.

He had caught the creature himself, actually. It was a pain in the neck to track down, and harder still to make sure that it was indeed a male and not a female. Although he would've loved to get a female of the species, he probably wouldn't be sitting there if he had tried. The females of the species were notable for their visciousness when it came to their eggs. However, since the male he had captured was relatively young, he had managed to find an empty nest nearby with some of the silver eggshells attributed to the species. If that didn't satisfy the students, he'd probably hunt down a manticore to feed them to.

Garrett's gaze dropped from the Astronomy tower to one of the doorways leading into the castle. A few Ravenclaws trickled out, and he straightened up, turning back to his observation of the tower. To be honest, he wasn't entirely sure why he was doing this, but it was a way to kill the time while he waited for his class to show.
